But she was a lone voice against the shop and before being allowed to speak, she had to hear the Chief Environmental Health Officer, Phil Winsor, tell the licencing committee that the sex business was easier to control in licenced premises, rather than sex toys and videos being sold through newspaper advertisements.

Mrs Bale said that she was concerned that the merchandise sold in these shops could encourage paedophiles and could lead to sex attacks on innocent people.

Phil Winsor confirmed after the meeting that an another application has been received from Darker Enterprises for a new sex shop at 23 Chandos Place, Bletchley, formerly known as Lloyds Bank.
